Launch Planning and Initial Hesitations

When Zach was applying for our Waitlist Magic campaign, he had a few hesitations – mostly revolving around the timing and scale of the launch. The thing is, Zach is a bit of an impulsive marketer and was gearing up for a big trip to London. He didn’t want the stress and fallout that typically follows an elaborate launch.

Still, he decided to give it a go and needless to say, the results were positively surprising.

Integrating Unique Elements

One of the reasons Zach decided to try the Waitlist Magic strategy was that it provided a straightforward approach without sacrificing effectiveness. While we have a structured template for this strategy, Zach added his own flair to it. Instead of offering the first spot free, which he thought might backfire with his specific audience, he promised a raffle for one-on-one time with him for the first 15 buyers. This slight modification kept the simple ad campaign for online courses engaging and true to his brand’s voice.

Lo and behold, the offer sold out in 20 minutes. Zach then extended the raffle to the first 35 buyers, which tapped into his audience’s excitement and kept the momentum going. By the end of the first day, Zach had sold these 35 spots, converting over 10% of his 290-person waitlist.

Strategic Use of Ads

While email marketing played a significant role, Zach also leveraged Facebook and Instagram ads to drive remarkable results. He used lead ads to attract 30 additional sign-ups to his waitlist, achieving a 5x return on ad spend. 

For retargeting, Zach focused on engaging his warm audience and those who had interacted with his waitlist, achieving an incredible 21x return on ad spend. The retargeting ads alone generated over $4,282.60 in just two and a half days from a $200 ad spend.

Running the Campaign Smoothly

Zach’s in-depth understanding of his audience and clever use of straightforward, engaging techniques made this campaign a success. He even managed to inject a bit of fun into the process, using his ‘Wheel of Names’ to raffle off prizes and make things a little more interactive.

No campaign is perfect, and Zach shares some of the insights and lessons he learnt, including checking in on your tech to make sure it’s all running correctly.
