When my son was born in 2019, I had a problem that I knew I needed to solve quickly, and it wasn’t the kind of problem that had an easy or obvious solution. I was selling a 4-week program at the time that was doing okay—people were buying it, it was getting results, and on paper everything looked fine. But the way I had to sell it, the actual mechanics of getting people into that program and making the revenue I needed to sustain my business, that part wasn’t working for me anymore, and I knew something had to change.
Big launches felt absolutely exhausting, requiring weeks of prep work, constant content creation, showing up live multiple times a day, and pouring everything I had into a short window of time that left me completely drained by the end. Running ads directly to the program meant I could avoid the launch burnout, but the profit margins were razor-thin because the ad costs kept eating into everything, and any time I tried to scale up the ad spend to get more volume, the margins got even thinner until there was barely anything left.
And the thought of doing either of those things—the massive launches or the constant ad optimization—with an unpredictable newborn schedule where I never knew if I’d actually be able to show up when I said I would? Yeah, that just wasn’t going to work.
What I Knew I Needed
I knew I needed something different. Something that would give me more leverage so I wasn’t trading time for money in the same way. Something that would be significantly more profitable per sale so I didn’t need massive volume to make my numbers work. And something that would actually fit around a baby who absolutely did not care about my business plans or my launch calendar.
So I started thinking about what that could look like, and I created something that sat in between a mastermind (which I loved the idea of but didn’t have the capacity to run) and a traditional course (which I knew wasn’t going to cut it anymore).
The Accidental Discovery
And here’s the funny thing that I didn’t realize until much later: I didn’t even know that group programs were a thing that other people were doing or that there was a whole category of offer types that fit what I was creating. I just knew what I needed for my life and my business at that specific moment, and I figured out how to make it work in a way that would serve my clients well while also giving me the sustainability I was desperately craving.
That one program, the one I created out of necessity and a bit of desperation if I’m being honest, became the absolute cornerstone of my entire business for the next six years and counting. I’ve made over $5 million from that single program since my son was born, and it’s still running, still converting, still changing lives for my clients while giving me the freedom and flexibility I created it for in the first place.
Why This Story Matters for You
I didn’t create a brand new program from scratch, didn’t spend months developing new content or building out a whole new curriculum, because I genuinely didn’t have time for that with a newborn who needed me around the clock. I used what I already had—the frameworks I’d been teaching for years, the content I’d already created, the expertise I’d already developed—and I just restructured how it was delivered, how it was packaged, and how it was sold.
I bundled things together differently, added in some new elements that made it more valuable, changed the way people experienced the content and got support, and suddenly everything clicked into place in a way it hadn’t before.
And it worked, not just a little bit but really, truly worked in a way that changed the entire trajectory of my business. But here’s what I want you to know, and this is the most important part of this whole story: this isn’t just my story, it’s not some unique situation that only worked because of my specific circumstances or audience or timing.
The Shift That’s Happening Right Now
This is the exact shift I’m seeing successful coaches and course creators make right now, the ones who are absolutely thriving while others in their industry are struggling to make their numbers work. They’re taking their existing frameworks, the things they’ve been teaching for years, and they’re pivoting them into high-touch group experiences that deliver something AI fundamentally can’t compete with—real human connection, personalized guidance, accountability, and community.
Want the Full Behind-the-Scenes Story?
In my latest podcast episode, I pull back the curtain completely and share things I don’t usually talk about publicly. I walk through the confronting advice from a coach that pushed me to make this change even when it felt scary and impossible. I explain exactly what I changed in my program structure and what I kept the same because it was already working.
I share how I figured out how to sell a $3,000+ program when I’d never sold anything over $1,000 before and had all kinds of mindset blocks around charging that much. I break down what it actually looks like to run this kind of program day-to-day (spoiler alert: it’s about 20 minutes in the morning checking the community plus two calls a month, which is way less than you probably think).
And I explain why this model creates the kind of recurring revenue stability that most course creators dream about but never actually achieve with their current business model.
