The first and most important thing to know about building sales funnels:
A couple of email automations does not a funnel make.
If you want to upskill and start billing yourself as a funnel expert, a free webinar on how to set up landing pages and segment in ConvertKit isn’t going to cut it.
That’s the way to stay at the “paid by the hour/task monkey” level.
To make the big $$$ you need to actually develop the expertise to set yourself apart and be able to advise on, strategise, and create robust, sustainable, effective funnels that actually make an impact in yours and your clients’ business.
Now, let’s talk numbers.
Let’s say you have someone come in and say, “I need you to build me a sales funnel.”
And you’re like, OK great, that’ll be 5 hours, 10 hours, or whatever.
Now assuming you’re working 40 hours a week on paper — 40 billable hours — chances are you’re actually working about 60 hours a week, which is more than full-time. To make $200K that year, you’re going to need to be charging at least $97 an hour AND working flat-out all the time.
That’s exhausting.
It’s unsustainable — you’re going to hate it within the year. And there’s no way you’re going to be able to bring your best to your clients or make as big an impact as you could.
And, chances are you’re not charging enough right now to even make that possible. Remember, we ran the numbers, you’re not going to get there charging $40 or $50 an hour.
You’d have to double that and work 120 hours a week, which isn’t possible.
Now, the next move most people make is to try to up their prices a little. But let’s be honest, an extra $5 or $10 an hour isn’t going to make it.
The answer isn’t do to more. It’s to do better.
You have to choose to up-skill and up-level, to step away from the task monkey kind of role and into a premium, respected advisor role.

If you can start offering premium funnels that really change your clients’ businesses you can start charging a minimum of $5,000 each, and you can usually price your work at $5,000 – $10,000 a funnel, depending on how complex they are.
Now that number might sound HUGE, depending on where you’re starting — but to the right client, that funnel is so valuable, it’s a no-brainer.
Here’s the really cool part:
