The Real Reason Behind My 12-Week Hiatus

Okay, let’s address the elephant in the room. I basically ghosted you for three months.

No tropical island retreats. No dramatic life crisis. Just me, massively underestimating what it would be like to run HelloFunnels when my right-hand woman went on maternity leave… while simultaneously deciding to bite off some massive projects that I’d been “dying to tackle.”

Smart? Absolutely not.

But here’s the thing – sometimes life happens, and you need to make tough choices about what gets your attention and what doesn’t.

What Really Happened Behind the Scenes

Picture this: I’m trying to do two people’s jobs (spoiler alert: I’m not superhuman), while also deciding this was the perfect time to completely re-imagine our eCourse Empire program AND launch a secret project I can’t tell you about yet (but it’s going to be SO good).

The result? I found myself dreading podcast recording days. I was rushing through episodes so fast that a friend told me she thought she’d accidentally put the podcast on 2x speed… except she hadn’t. That was just me, talking like I was being chased by a very persistent deadline.

And you know what? That’s not the experience I want to create for you. If you’re lending me your ears for 10-15 minutes, I want to give you something valuable, not just tick a box because “consistency.”

The All-or-Nothing Trap (And Why I Almost Didn’t Take This Break)

Here’s something I’ve never admitted before: I have a serious all-or-nothing personality.

The reason I’d never paused this podcast in 250+ episodes wasn’t just about consistency – it was because I was terrified that once I took one break, it would become easier to take another. And another. Until suddenly, my weekly show became a “whenever I feel like it” show.

But sometimes, you reach a point where something’s gotta give. And this time, it was the podcast.

Smart Ways to Take a Content Break (That I Didn’t Do This Time)

Look, I’ve handled content breaks before – just not like this. Here’s what I usually do when I need breathing room:

The Rerun Strategy

Go back and find a really popular old episode. Either mark it clearly as a rerun, or record a fresh 2-minute intro explaining why it’s relevant right now. Takes minimal time, keeps your audience fed.

The Repurpose Hack

Turn a live training, coaching session, or workshop into a podcast episode. You’re already creating content all the time – you just might not think of it as “content.”

The Seasonal Approach

Maybe the answer is seasons instead of year-round content. Even TV shows take breaks (unless you’re The Simpsons).

What I Should Have Done Differently

Instead of waiting until I was completely overwhelmed and pulling the plug without warning, I should have:

  1. Planned the break in advance – Built it into my project timeline instead of hitting the panic button
  2. Given you a heads up – A quick “taking a break, back soon” episode would have been the decent thing to do
  3. Set clearer boundaries – Maybe saying no to those big projects until my team was back at full capacity

The Truth About Taking Breaks in Your Business

Here’s what I want you to remember if you’re considering a content break:

Breaks are okay. It’s your business, your rules. Your mental health, family, and sanity come before content creation. Always.

But don’t let it become a pattern. The trust you’ve built with your audience is precious. Don’t treat it carelessly.

Your audience won’t forget you. I was terrified everyone would disappear. Guess what? You’re still here! Sales might slow a bit, but your people will still be your people.

Be honest about it. In this age of AI and perfect Instagram lives, people connect with real, messy, human stories. Like this one.

What’s Next (And Why This Break Was Worth It)

During these 12 weeks, I wasn’t just binge-watching Netflix (though I definitely did some of that). I was creating, improving, and building some seriously cool stuff that’s going to make your funnel-building journey so much easier.

The new eCourse Empire curriculum? Chef’s kiss.

That secret project I mentioned? Let’s just say it’s going to change how you think about automating your business.

I’m back, I’m refreshed, and I’m ready to serve you better than ever.

The Bottom Line

Sometimes the best thing you can do for your business is step back and make sure you’re building something sustainable. Something that supports you, not just the other way around.

Did I handle this perfectly? Absolutely not. But I’m human, I learned some things, and I’m sharing the messy truth with you because that’s what we do here at HelloFunnels.

Now, who’s ready to dive into some seriously good funnel content? Because I’ve got some amazing stuff planned for you…
