#201 – Start a Business from Scratch in 2024

Share Post

Are you wondering how to start a successful business from scratch in 2024? I was recently sent a question in my DMs asking me what I would do if I was starting all over again this year. Firstly, what I would do starting out in 2024 is very different from what I’ve done in the past. And as a person who’s currently on business 3.0 and has grown faster with each iteration, I just may have a tip or two to share!

The great thing about having tried and tested more than one business is learning the different tips, tricks and strategies that you can put in your little backpack each time to build up your business savvy and know-how.

So whether you’re looking to start a successful business or start one over, grab your notes and listen in as I walk you through what I’ve learnt and what my exact strategies for 2024 would be.

Identifying Your Target Market

Before we do anything when looking to start a successful business from scratch, we need to figure out who we’re wanting to help and how it is that we can help them. Once you decide what you can offer, do a little bit of market research. Basically, to make sure it’s actually something your ideal customer will value enough to pay for. I’d then encourage you to uncover the top three pain points they’re trying to solve, with the view to create one valuable opt-in for each of those pillars.

Setting Up a Simple Funnel

You know that I love a good funnel! So it’s no surprise that the next thing I’d do is set one up. Even if your offer doesn’t exist yet, you can create a basic email-based funnel around the $300-500 mark that allows people to buy your product or service. This automated system will start building your list and generating income while you work on developing the actual offer.

Hiring a Virtual Assistant to Assist

Hiring a virtual assistant is a crucial step in creating a successful business. For as little as $10 an hour – depending where you are in the world – you can hire a VA to assist with your admin. At first, I’d suggest for around 10 hours per week. Generally an entry-level VA can assist with inbox management and repurpose your content for various platforms. Furthermore, by creating one high-quality piece of content per week and having your VA repurpose it, you can reach a wider audience without spending excessive time and effort.

Offering One-on-One Packages for Cash Flow

Because we can’t really live off the trickle of sales we’re getting from a $300-500 offer, the next thing I’d do is create a juicy one-on-one package. This package can be priced between $2,000 to $3,000, where you work closely with a few clients each month. And while I wouldn’t intend to run it forever, it helps generate consistent income while still allowing you time to grow your successful business.

Monthly Mini Workshops

Think about the three pillars or pain points you identified earlier and ask yourself: what’s one thing you can help people with under each of them? You can then create a mini workshop for each one, inviting your email list and audiences from all your different platforms. As you build a collection of workshops, you can then offer upsells and upgrades, making each workshop more profitable over time.

Creating an Implementation-Based Community

Because I love a little bit of recurring revenue, after each mini workshop, I’d invite attendees to join me in some kind of support or implementation-based community. Certainly a great way to provide ongoing support and training for those who want to implement what they learned in the workshops. Offering this community at a monthly fee not only generates more revenue and grow your successful business, but also fosters a sense of community among your audience.

Offer a High Ticket Online Course

Lastly, the final piece of the puzzle to start a business from scratch and give you that additional income boost is to create a high level course that you run live a couple of times a year. Once you’ve successfully done this a few times, you can potentially look at putting it on evergreen.

I really believe that these steps are super leveraged and doable as a one man band – with the help of your trusty VA, of course! And while yes, every step I’ve talked about takes a little bit of work to set up in the first place, you’re doing it with the intent to eventually automate, systemise or outsource your processes. This gets your business working for you, while giving you the time to expand in other areas that will see it continue to grow!

Wish there was a way you could basically guarantee you would make sales, the second you opened your cart?
