Online marketing trends for 2023! That’s right, we’re throwing some predictions into the mix for the upcoming year. There’s a few things to keep your eyes on and a couple of things to avoid so you can make the next 12 months amazing…
TUNE-IN: APPLE PODCASTS | SPOTIFY | GOOGLE PLAY
In this week’s episode I’m dusting off my crystal ball to make some predictions for the online world in 2023!
Including online programs and of course, (our fave thing to chat about here) online marketing.
And sure, there’s a strong chance I’ll regret these predictions in 12-months time, because if the last few years have taught us anything it’s that the world is freaking unpredictable..
…But! There are definitely some big picture trends that I wanted to chat with you about + some things you can start putting in place to make sure 2023 is your best year yet…
So let’s dive into them now!
First up, the elephant in the room…
Online Marketing in a Crap Economy…
Bummer alert: it’s not looking like the economy is going to be significantly better anytime soon and there may be some rough patches ahead. So of course, that will impact how we do business and how we put our offers together.
And if you have a US-based audience, it’s also worth considering the impact of the upcoming election (even though it’s over a year away!) As it ramps up speed closer to the election, things get noisier and there are lots of loud opinions flinging around. This whirlwind of controversy, stress and uncertainty can create a sense of instability. Especially financially for a lot of people.
As a business owner, we need to help alleviate as many of those fears as we can.
This isn’t about tricking them, it’s about helping people who are feeling uncertain, to feel more certain when making their decisions.
And that starts with your offer: Make sure your offer is amazing as it can be, and that it does what it says it will do.
Then look at the way it’s being packaged up and delivered and sense-check if there are any tweaks you could make to help it better match the current economy. (For example, with the right amount of support, time and resources.)
In the episode I go into more details around how to look at your offer, both front-end and back-end so you can make it as appropriate and effective as possible for your clients in this climate.
Elon Musk. Twitter. The Whole Thing.
Even as this episode is being created – the whole situation over at Twitter HQ has probably changed again. But right now, things are looking…
…unstable.
It’ll be interesting to see if Elon blows the whole thing up or it rises from the ashes like a blue, tweeting Phoenix.
Either way, we suggest keeping an open mind with social media right now, because by the end of 2023, we predict it will look very different to what we see now.
We’re not saying to jump on the next shiny thing, but just be aware of some shifting and be open to trying out new things in that space…
Long vs Short Form Content
I can see both sides to this: some people are saying that short form content like TikTok’s and Instagram reels are the best way to engage an audience and cut through the noise…
And other people are returning to long form content such as blog posts, videos and podcasts.
Longer content can be made more evergreen through SEO and Pinterest etc and short form content is a never-ending machine, asking for content constantly which is only served up for a day or 2 at the most…
…and forgotten.
Plus, it’s a time consuming medium and so a lot of people are tired of it. Of course, it can be outsourced, but then you run the risk of it losing its authenticity.
So, in an ideal scenario, it would be great to have both types of content – the more quick fix, snappier short content as well as the longer pieces that have greater longevity.
But if you can only have one, I can see why people are leaning back into longer, more sustainable content creation that pays them back again and again over time.
It’s really going to be up to you, your business and where your audience hangs out.
(Again, I go into this all in more detail in the episode, so give that a listen if you’re finding yourself unsure about your content at the moment.)
But, it might be worth experimenting and again, being open and responsive as things change.
Funnels + 2023
What else will be trending (or at least I hope will be!) in 2023 is…
…funnels.
Sure, I’m always going to say that funnels are amazing.
But whenever there are these times of uncertainty, one thing that is always going to be true in business (especially in uncertain times), is that we need to be agile, make changes and adapt…
…And all of that requires space.
Which means the baseline needs to be covered and have as much stability as possible in your business. Even when things are out of your control.
And that’s where funnels are going to shine even more next year.
We predict that as things get crazier and more uncertain, the thing that we all want more is certainty and reliability.
And that’s what funnels do and why I’ve been teaching them for the last few years to hundreds, if not thousands of amazing online business owners.
And hopefully 2023 is the year that you make funnels your year?
Just imagine what it would be like to have that extra layer of security and reliability so that you can show up and do your best work…
