We just kicked off the very first cohort inside SCALE, and starting a program comes with an awkward little gap. People join, they’re excited, they’re ready… and then they have to wait a couple of days for the kickoff call.
Waiting is the worst. So I added something people get access to the second they join. I called it Mini Money Moves: a collection of my favourite proven five to ten minute tasks. You go and do the thing. It adds money to your business. That’s it.
No strategy weekend. No rebuild. Ten minutes.
And there’s one in there I keep thinking about, because it’s so simple, and so many people either don’t do it, or don’t do it well enough, or don’t realise how much money is sitting in it.
The most valuable moment you get with a customer
It’s the order bump. That little tick box on the checkout page that says: do you also want this?
It’s not an upsell (that comes after the purchase, on the next page). It’s an add-on, inside the checkout, at the exact moment someone has already decided to buy.
Which is the single most valuable moment you ever get with a customer. And most people do absolutely nothing with it.
That’s what makes this worth ten minutes of your day. You’re not finding new customers. You’re not spending more on ads. You’re not writing another launch. Same number of sales, more money per sale.
The sales are already happening. This is just deciding to be paid properly for them.
The version of this I was too scared to try
Most people fall into one of three camps. No order bump at all, one that’s quietly underperforming, or one that’s working and no plans to touch it.
I was in that third camp for far too long, because I had three very reasonable fears about pushing it further. All three turned out to be completely wrong, and our numbers before and after are in the episode.
I also share the conversion rate that tells you yours is broken (it’s a lot higher than most people assume), and the only two things worth changing when it is.
Then we get into the practical half. How to price a bump on a low ticket offer versus a $2,000 program, and how to test your way to the most profitable point rather than the highest conversion rate. The formats that work every single time, and the one thing you should never put in an order bump. The exact feeling it has to create in about two seconds flat, because if it needs explaining, nobody ticks the box.
There’s one half of this I couldn’t teach on audio, and it’s a genuine fifty percent of the battle: the design. How that box looks, where it sits, what makes it get noticed and read instead of scrolled past. You can’t see a thing on a podcast.
