#86: What to do with an offer that just doesn’t sell

Welcome to part 3 of our brand new 5 part mini-series, where we’re sharing some of our favourite action plans from inside our eCourse Empire program!  It’s an incredible community of course-creators and course-creators to be, who all come into the program to turn their ideas and passions into something profitable. And it’s within eCourse Empire that we show them how to create, grow, scale, and make a big impact — without the burnout.

People come into this program at all levels, we have people who are just starting out, and people who already have 6-figure businesses and are looking to scale. And we give them an action plan (and amazing support) for where they’re at.

And that’s what this series is about!

While we can’t give you all of the extra goodies you get inside the program, like 1:1 feedback, page reviews, strategy, training and more…

…An action plan is an amazing place to start…

Last week we looked at the action plan for people who already have a bit of a following, but don’t have an offer, (and you can check out those steps right here!) and today we’re talking to people who have an offer…

…but it’s not selling. (Ouch.)

If that’s you don’t stress, we’ve broken down your action plan into a couple of questions you can ask yourself to see what the main issue could be. And then have a few simple steps you can follow to get some momentum in your sales.

So, let’s jump in.

Actually, before we do, just a quick caveat: these notes are a great overview, but you’re going to want to listen to the full episode to get all the info and details so you can take it away and implement!

Ok, now we can jump in…

Question 1: Have enough people seen it?

The first question you need to ask yourself if you’re finding your offer isn’t flying off the digital shelves is “Have enough people seen it?” And also, “Have they seen it enough times?”

And that’s an important follow up question, because the world is getting busier and people are getting bombarded with more messages all the time. So it takes longer to develop trust in you and your offer. They need to hear about it more in order to let it sink in.

It’s not enough to mention it once or twice in an email or instagram post, that’s just not going to cut it. And in fact, having a proper launch plan has so many moving pieces, it’s so much more than sending a few emails. So if you’re not making enough noise (strategic, targeted, well-communicated noise) around your offer, it’s not going to be enough.

I go on a slight (yet super helpful) tangent in the episode where I talk about the benchmarks you can expect to hit for a launch or promotion and what’s realistic to expect. Which is useful to know, because you might be exceeding benchmarks, but still thinking your numbers are low. Your offer could actually be selling really well! If you don’t know what you’re looking for you’re not going to know you’ve got a killer offer on your hands… so give the episode a listen for those stats.

Question 2: Is it a “Hells Yes!” offer?

Ok, to move on to this question, we’re going to assume you’re shouting it from the rooftops and yet your offer still isn’t budging.

So, the next question to ask yourself is: “Is it a “Hells Yes!” offer? And in order for it to be a “Hells Yes!” offer, it needs to hit all 3 of the following areas. (Not 1 or 2, but all 3.)

Messaging

Is it CLEAR enough? Do people understand what the offer is? Can you say in 1 short sentence what the outcome of the offer is? Are you speaking clearly about the BENEFITS of the offer?

Do people value the promise?

The second thing you need in order to create a “Hells Yes!” offer is that you need to be solving a problem that people actually give a shit about. And it needs to be delivered in a way that’s appropriate to them. You need to know your clients and know what they are really needing. If they don’t value the outcome, they’re not going to take action.

Does the price match the value?

This is about finding that fair exchange of value. To make sure you’re not under-delivering or over-delivering and also how much your audience values this problem being solved, in the way you’re offering to solve it.

What to do next…

There’s 3 things you can do in order to get your offer on track and selling like hotcakes:

  1. Do a survey

Ask your list what they’re struggling with, what are they hoping for? Etc. Getting their answers, in their words, is actually gold because moving forwards, you can use their words in your messaging. They’ll be able to hear themselves in what you’re communicating.

2. Jump into Facebook groups

If you don’t have a list to survey, the other thing you can do is hop into Facebook groups and get a bit stalkery. (In a legal, non-creepy way.) Find some big names in your niche and look at the comments on their posts, what are people saying? What are they connecting with?

3. 1:1 interviews or consults

If you haven’t been working for long in this space, I recommend selling some coaching packages or 1:1 offers. Working directly with clients for a time is some of the best market research you could ever do. This should help you tease out where you might need to make some changes around those 3 points of a ‘Hells Yes!” offer.

And then… you launch it again!

A quick reminder

Try to view all of this (as with anything in your business) as an experiment. It’s all just a test. And it will continue to be an experiment as your business evolves and your clients evolve and yes, as the world evolves. Test, play, get curious, experiment…

No such thing as failure. Only feedback.

Even if things aren’t crystal clear right now, don’t beat yourself up. Put your best foot forward and do as well as you can do with where you are now, until you can do better.

This is one of the things I love about eCourse Empire, we love jumping onto our coaching calls each week and helping people spot some of the problems that they’re a bit close to and can’t see…

So when people are finding their sales page isn’t converting, we can hop on a call with them and figure out where their design or messaging isn’t working for them… It’s one of the most valuable things for people at this point in their business… Because often, it’s just a few tweaks away from big results.

Your next step…

So, if you’re nodding along right now and thinking you could do with a few extra sets of eyes, (from a panel of expert digital marketers) then we’d love you to come and join us!

We do have a handful of spots left for this intake of eCourse Empire so if you’d like to join us or get more information on what the program is and how it can help you to implement these action plans, and help you to create, grow and scale your own 6 and multi 6-figure courses on autopilot…
